Bitten Awarded 2020 International Book Award

LOS ANGELES – American Book Fest announced the winners and finalists of THE 2020 INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS (IBA) on July 22, 2020. Over 400 winners and finalists were announced in over 90 categories. Awards were presented for titles published in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In the category of Narrative: Non-Fiction , Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons was named the winner.

Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of American Book Fest, said this year’s contest yielded over 2,000 entries from authors and publishers around the world, which were then narrowed down to the final results.

Keen says of the awards, “The 2020 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the world. With a full publicity and marketing campaign promoting the results of IBA, this year’s winners and finalists will gain additional media coverage for the second half of 2020.”

Keen adds, “IBA’s success begins with the enthusiastic participation of authors and publishers and continues with our distinguished panel of industry judges who bring to the table their extensive editorial, PR, marketing, and design expertise.”

Lyme disease expert champions investigation into Pentagon weaponizing ticks: 'It's a courageous move'

Kris Newby, author of "Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons," discussed how ticks can be weaponized during an interview with "Fox & Friends Sunday" and supported an investigation into whether or not the Pentagon attempted this feat during the Cold War.

She was responding to a call from House lawmakers for an investigation into the Pentagon to find out if it contributed to the outbreak of Lyme disease that's currently ravaging the country.
